Shree K Kurup, MD, FACP
Shree K Kurup, M.D., F.A.C.P. is a professor of ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgeon whose area of expertise is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous as well as immune disorders that affect the brain and eye. His medical training started at NY Medical College, NY. Dr. Kurup finished his post graduate studies at the National Eye Institute at the National Institutes of Health where he continued research into both macular degeneration and uveitis. He then went on to a surgical vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh and Vitreoretinal Foundation.
Dr. Kurup is internationally recognized for treatment of medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, including complex retinal detachments, severe diabetic eye disease, trauma and uveitis as well as systemic immune disorders that affect the eye (MS, Lupus are examples). He is a member of the prestigious Macula Society, Retina Society, and is on the leadership board at the American Society of Retina Specialists and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is an American Medical Association Doctor of the Year award winner and an honor award recipient from the America Society of Retina Specialists.
